The exact geographical location of Springwood is subjec to interpretation. In A Nightmare on Elm Street, it is suggested that Springwood is located in California. This is evidenced by the palm trees seen in the background at Rod Lane's funeral. However, in Freddy vs. Jason, Springwood appears to be only a short car ride away from Camp Crystal Lake from the Friday the 13th film series. It has been heavily implied in the first three Friday films that Camp Crystal Lake is located in New Jersey, which is more than just a quick car ride away from either Ohio or California.
