He was originally going to portray Jason in the film Freddy vs. Jason but thanks to the ignorance of the New Line Cinema executives (namely Stokely Chaffin, Matthew Barry, and Jeff Katz) thinking he was too bulky to play the role again, he was denied the role and it was given to Canadian stuntman Ken Kirzinger.
Even though most of Hodder's fans protested this choice to replace him, New Line didn't care and still had no problem hiring Kirzinger.
Along with his fans, Hodder was not pleased with his sudden replacement and claims they never gave him a reason for his replacement. Some believe the producers of Freddy vs. Jason thought he was too short and bulky for the role (despite him having played it four times before the film) and others believe it had something to do with the film being film in Canada where Kirzinger was a local; thus saving them money from not having to fly Hodder to Canada.
Despite all of this, Hodder and Kirzinger are still good friends.
Hodder says he'd do another Friday the 13th movie as Jason again if given the chance and currently enjoys playing Victor Crowley; he's played the role twice and will reprise a third time for the third installment this year.
Hodder enjoys meeting his fans at conventions and is said to be quite nice.
